Kinda speaks for itself. But, might I say to all MiG-21 detractors, the Fishbed is still one of the finest jet fighters ever produced, and I believe exported to more countries than any other supersonic jet. RESPECT THE MIG....it's the pilot who's to be pitied. So speaks Da J Maj.

The F-16 was developed in response to the MIG-21 and its effectiveness as a dog fighter in the Vietnam War.
It is a very good plane but it is dated now. I have also read reports that NK has cut way back on their pilot’s flying time due to limited fuel supplies. Throw in quality of maintenance and training and that about gives you the present status of the NK air force.
If we go to war, the North Korean Air Force will die on the ground.
Can’t download music anymore from Youtube? I used to be able to convert to record on a CD disk.
Dated now? It was dated 30 years ago. Fishbed is an apt name, because it’s pilot is fertilizer against any Western country flying current generations planes.
True. But then the NVAF never really used the MiG-21 as a dogfighter. They used them as point interceptors on blow-thru attacks. They’d run-in on a bomber formation, shoot & scoot. The MiG-17 & Mig-19’s were the planes that would mix it up in turning fights.
Suspect you're correct. Any that may make it into the air aren't going to last long either. Minutes, perhaps.
Perhaps their pilots are infested with parasitic worms like their elite boarder guards.
Well, The MiG-21 has outlasted its contemporaries (F-104, Mirage III/5, Draken), and the number of operators is still in double didgits. Musta done something right.
Outlasted in the inventories of countries who could not afford to upgrade. Longevity is not always an equation of effectiveness or superiority. In fact, in this case, it’s an equation of poor countries trying to field something. Anything.
Cheap, easy to maintain, can takeoff/land in less than pristine conditions....easy to understand why it’s still flying.
