The #MeToo and Times Up movements gained an unexpected voice this week as country music star Vince Gill opened up about his experiences with sexual harassment during a live performance in Nashville.
I was in 7th grade, and a young, dumb kid, he said.
I had a gym teacher that acted inappropriately towards me and was trying to do things that I didnt know what the hell was going on, explained Gill. I was just fortunate that I got up and I ran. I just jumped up, and I ran. I dont know why. And I dont think I ever told anybody my whole life.

Sounds a little bogus, or possibly exaggerated, to me.
This took place around 1970, he was at least 12, and the parents of every boy I knew had warned them about perverted men who might try to touch you.
Hard to believe he would keep that experience a permanent secret from his parents, from his siblings, and from his male friends.

Can you imagine how many old ladies could get sued if the remaining Beatles and Rolling Stones started to sue for harrassment by all those groupies backstage in the 1960s?
One time when I was 9 this dog ran up to me and humped my leg and I kicked him off and I ran and ran. I never told anybody about that before in my life. #metoo
#its OK if it was a fag. /s. (Wont work)
Assuming this wasn’t a lesbian gym coach hitting on him.
Is there a photo of the teachers?
Some FReepers might think he’s not guilty.
According to the article he mentioned it in a 2014 Rolling Stoned interview
Gay men have NO interest in heterosexuals (so the saying goes).
Vince Gill must’ve set off the teacher’s gaydar and he was just mentoring to the yute.
Of course the story was that Vince’s ex-wife found love notes in his golf bag from his current wife, Amy Grant.
I really don’t wish anyone ill here.
There are some weird folks out there. Girls who exposed themselves to me when I was 12 or 13.
Older men who invited me to their homes. I didn’t take them up on the offers.
Rather than gossip about others, it might be best for me and Vince and everyone else out there to get our own approach to matters sexual in order.
Actually, it is not that hard to understand.
Peer pressure in school and expectations from your parents combine to a realization that you stay silent or have everyone in your life tease or be disappointed in you.
You cant believe the numbers of people raped. I have had many women I grew to know through church activities confide in me over the years of rapes that happened. Its very common and it leaves scars these people patch over in incomplete, dysfunctional, ways..
Did squeal like Ned?
Most gays were sexually molested when they were young. The studies prove that.
If this comes from Vince Gill, I absolutely believe it. I think your reaction is exactly why kids who experience this never tell anyone, even as adults.
They can't biologically reproduce so the take a young boy in his sexually formative years and molest him, essentially "reprogramming" him.
ME too! Excepting it was a bouvier, which knocked me down.... and it shaped my life too.
By the time I was 13, I had suffered sexual abuse and never told anyone...I remember the first time.
It was a cold night autumn night, dark, cold and basically miserable out
and I was home alone.....
Im sorry these things happened to you, but I must disagree. Children and adults do better when they can be open about abuse that happened to them. They should not be encouraged to hold it in and keep it to themselves for the comfort of others.
It is always good to KNOW and UNDERSTAND when something that happened to an innocent wasnt their fault. It does help them get beyond it. Anger at evil is righteous. Fighting evil is righteous.
Vince has always been on the top wrung of the ‘stand up guy” ladder and has no need to make up a story like this. He is honest to a fault.
