PBS NEWSHOUR: Syndicated columnist Mark Shields and New York Times columnist David Brooks join Judy Woodruff to discuss the weeks news, .....
DAVID BROOKS: I think the Republicans are going to do very bad in the midterm, but not because of the tax bill...
So you can vote on a lot of things. In general, when you run up big deficits and give away back money to people, they like it. And people like me say, hey, you should worry about the deficits or you should worry about the distribution effects. .......
JUDY WOODRUFF: Well, you brought up the midterm elections. And thats what I want to ask you about.
But, David, your point is that this tax bill is not going to affect Republicans in the midterm that much, whatever
DAVID BROOKS: Who knows? The midterms are still a year away.
I think the reason people dont like the Republican Party is not because of the tax cut. Its because they dont like Donald Trump, they dont think theyre functional, for a zillion other reasons. .......
I think theyre in terrible shape..... Theres the thing called the generic ballot. Which party do you want to control, which party do you think usually, if one party is plus nine, theyre like due for a tidal wave of support. And the Democrats are plus 13 or 14. Thats just massive.
Now, were a year away, ....... it looks like a tidal wave election. If it was today, it would be a tidal wave election, and it looks the kind of elections where Democrats wouldnt only carry swing states, like maybe even Arizona, something like that, but states where you dont even imagine.

The guy so mesmorized by Obama's creases in his pants, did he ever bring up Obama doubled deficit in his 8 years? Or increased the deficit from all the previous presidents combined? Did he ever bring up Obama's redistribution of wealth?
Now all of a sudden, Brooks had this fake concerns.....

Cocaine is a helluva drug.
President Trump has never disappointed me - he is the greatest President in my lifetime! I will enthusiastically vote all things Trump!
I see a repeat of the surprise in 2016.
The Progressives are underestimating President Trump and his supporters again.
With the constant barrage of anti-Trump propaganda, it takes a strong Trump supporter to tell a Pollster he supports President Trump.
Shy Trump supporters continue to be “shy” Trump supporters.
How many of these landslides for the Dems have they predicted over the last two decades?
Yes, David Brooks has his finger on the pulse of . . . . . .
I’m not sure he can find his own pulse.
Hes the Washington Generals of Republicans.
Brooks will jump off a bridge. Well, my prediction is based on as much as his is.
Even people who might dislike Trump are starting to understand they are living in the age of a figure who’s genius and charisma will see him become a legendary figure of history,
Like Napoleon, Caesar, Alexander the Great and Washington, even Trump’s enemies are starting to accept he is an epoch defining genius
WTHeck is wrong with this man (David Brooks), too cozy in his echo chamber?
David Brooks is a mouthpiece for the Bush League who have been carrying out a 30 year bipartisan plan to steal the country from the citizens by flooding it with foreigners.
Everything they do is focused on preventing US from stopping the illegal alien inundation.
Make sure we do not elect any more like Trump.
Great news. Brooks is always wrong.
For the past two and a half years we have heard “Trump has really stepped in it this time! It’s all over for him now!” over and over and over again, and he just keeps getting stronger.
I’m seriously concerned....
David Brooks is like a seer when predicting things about Trump...
Churchill had his enemies as well.
Victory in and of itself is no guarantee of continued support.. but it sure helps keep the flames of freedom flickering for the survivors of scalawags masquerading as diplomats and politicos.
He can feel the crease in Obama's pants though. It sends tingles up his leg.
I have heard a lot of people say they didn’t like Trump’s language, his tweets, his attacks, but they still would vote for him and support him because of the good he’s doing for the country...
Myself, I like EVERYTHING he’s done and said...
