A WWE wrestler took to social media on Wednesday to put Budget Rental Car on blast after he says he found a handgun in the glove compartment.
Shelton Benjamin, 42, posted a photo to Twitter showing what looks like a Ruger LC9 9mm handgun inside a black bag with an unloaded magazine and tagged the company.
Thank you @Budget (LIT) for your great service of putting my reputation, freedom and quite possibly my life in jeopardy Ive unknowingly been driving your car around the last 4 days with a --- LOADED GUN in the Glove compartment, said Benjamin.
The company fired back at the SmackDown wrestler and said they were both sorry for the unfortunate situation and that they have turned the matter over to local police.
Benjamin, a South Carolina native who attended the University of Minnesota on a wrestling scholarship, has been wrestling professionally in the U.S. and Japan since 2000. He attended SmackDown Live earlier this week in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bit of a drama queen, isn't he? Then again, given his profession....
Sounds to me somebody was trying to set him up.
If they were he would have been busted well before 4 days...
I once rejected a car at Enterprise that smelled like weed inside
Fun fun fun car to drive.
Suck it up, Shelton Benjamin, youre acting like a big girl
Wuht Evuh, yuh dramuh queeb.
I’d’ve kept it and never said a word.../
But then it could be linked to a crime.
Best turn it in, I guess.
It could be registered.
If the magazine was unloaded he must have handled the gun (and put fingerprints on it) to check to see if there were rounds in the gun.
Or maybe he picked it up and could tell by the weight it had a full clip?
Some people have all the luck. The best thing I ever found in a rental car was an empty soda bottle.
Heh- our car broke down visiting relatives and we had to rent one.
“Dad - there’s fingernail trimmings all over the back seat!!!”
Looks like a laser has been added. Very nice.
Factory option for an extra $130.
It's what I would do, while telling the police, "If no one claims it and it's not a crime gun, can I keep it?"
What an idjit.
It should be federal law that every rental car be properly accessorized pursuant to the 2nd amendment.
It was an RR99, Rental Ruger. Its a newly issued model./s
They come standard in Chicago with rental vehicles. Ergo cognito sum, the car must have been previously rented in a trip from Chicago to Kansas. /s
Hey, maybe it was the gun that killed Seth Rich? Ballistics please?
Its like putting a bible in the drawer for you when you get a hotel room -hoping people find salvation. But in this case, they put a gun in the glove box for you for personal protection.
I would have complained about the mag being missing though.
A cleaner who was probably earning 10.00 an hour didn’t look in the glove box for guns?
HEADS SHOULD ROLL! /s
I’m driving a National Emerald rental this week. It’s an Infinity SUV. Big monster. I’m in the mountains and the truck drives like an old mans Cadillac. It’s an awful ride performance wise but it has a powerful engine.
Actually a tad too powerful as the Montana State Trooper I had the opportunity to meet yesterday informed me.
He gave me a sheet of paper that told me how fast I was driving and what that was going to cost me.
Something about 93 in an 80 zone.
First ticket in 25 years.
He may be a drama queen, but not in this case. He could have faced felony charges for carrying a concealed weapon ... and YOU WOULD NOT have believed his excuse that “the previous renter left it there”.
