The Senate cleared two more of President Trumps judicial nominees on Monday after confirming two others last week, helping the president make good on his promise to fill the federal bench with conservative jurists.
Karen Gren Scholer was confirmed to the Northern District of Texas Monday by a vote of 95-0. The Senate also voted 85-11 to confirm Tilman Eugene Self III to the Middle District of Georgia.
Mr. Trump has placed 27 judges on the federal bench since taking office last January, when he faced an unprecedented amount of judicial vacancies. Fourteen of the 28 judicial picks took seats on circuit courts, while the other 13 nominees filled vacancies on district courts.
There are nearly five dozen more judicial nominees currently awaiting either hearings before members on the Judiciary Committee or votes before the full Senate. Terry A. Doughty is expected to be considered by the chamber for a seat on the Western District of Louisiana on Tuesday.
Mr. Trump has kept a steady focus on federal court vacancies, allowing him to outpace his predecessor. President Obama had 18 federal judges confirmed by early March of his second year in comparison to Mr. Trumps 27.

Mitch McConnell has a backlog of judicial nominees that have successfully completed the judiciary committee process but still await a confirmation vote. McConnell should help the Senate in session EVERY DAY until the backlog is cleared.
Sent him a similar message just before Christmas and he pushed several through. Let’s all call his many state offices and leave messages.
95-0 approval? 85-11 approval?
Shouldn’t that set off a five alarm political fire bell in Trump’s mind?
The Democrats never vote for anybody who does not support their political agenda.
I think senate should do nothing else but confirm judges.
My thought too. Kinda scary.
This cannot be good. Im telling you we are at the point where any nominee that gets more then a few Rat votes is a bad pick.
The Senate should hold at least one vote per day, and feel these vacancies immediately. Maybe do a single vote for a whole batch of him. With the goal to have all of them filled within the next month.
I think the tradition is that by the time theyre being voted on, they get unanimous consent essentially. And that is why, once they are out of committee, they should all be approved immediately. Theres no excuse for the Senate, which cant seem to pass Obamacare repealed, immigration reform, or anything else, do not do one of their core constitutional received and approved President Trumps nominees. One would think they have the time since they are not doing anything else constructive.
Neil Gorsuch, the Supreme court nominee, was confirmed by 54 to 45.
Only three Democrats voted for him, all from Red states - North Dakota, West Virginia, and Indiana.
The Senate Judiciary Committee voted straight party line, 11 to 9.
Barack Obama got Senate approval to extend Jim “Mad Dog” Mattis for two and one half years after the mandatory retirement age of 60.
The Senate confirmed Mattis as Trump's Secretary of Defense by a vote of 98-1!
In sharp contrast, only one Democrat (Manchin - WV) voted to confirm former Senator Jeff Sessions as Attorney General.
In more sharp contrast, Senate Democrats actually voted to reject former Senator John Tower as SecDef for Bush One.
The result is the same but they can brag about how 'reasonable" they are.
Of course, if one is into jumping sharks and getting 'concerned" all the time, they become tea leave readers and see a bunch of sharks that need to be jumped.....NOW Dammit! JUMP!!!!
