ATLANTA, GA—While Empire actor Jussie Smollett has been having a tough week so far, there appears to be a silver lining: cable news channel CNN has offered Smollett a job as an investigative reporter and on-air anchor after witnessing his skills at fabricating a story entirely out of thin air. CNN producers were reportedly impressed throughout the ongoing saga of Smollett's apparent hoax attack on himself. They realized early on the facts didn't add up but were fascinated with how well the actor kept the narrative going. An HR rep quickly reached out to Smollett to see if he'd be...
  • On Jussie Smollett story, we deserve to know the truth [CNN getting wobbly]

We know the "who." It's the reason the story gathered national attention in the first place. We mostly know the "when," "where" and "how." They were the reasons for immediate doubts. But we may not have much interest in the "why," because there cannot possibly be a justifiable reason to fabricate a story about being assaulted with a noose by alleged racists. At this point, the only question of importance is "what?" As in what will the LGBTQ community do with Jussie Smollett if his account of being attacked by bigots in January is not true. I continue to hold...

TUCSON, Ariz. -- It's nicknamed the Boneyard. It sits on 2,600 acres of desert land, with more than 3,000 military aircraft on the Air Force’s Davis-Monthan Base. It's more than a retirement home for planes from all four branches of the military, NASA, and the U.S. Forest Service. It's a sort of memorial with multiple uses. Many of the planes are scrapped for parts and some completely refurbished. The 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) is the only place in the country authorized to store military-grade planes. “We’re looked at as a national air power reservoir…How do you make...

For nearly two decades at the Grand Canyon, tourists, employees, and children on tours passed by three paint buckets stored in the National Park's museum collection building, unaware that they were being exposed to radiation. ...One of the buckets was so full that its lid would not close. ...Stephenson said specialists apparently had no Geiger counter, so they drove to Utah to pick up a Ludlum meter, which also measures radiation output. ...As complaints escalated, Stephenson was fired. He turned to the Office of Special Counsel, a federal agency that protects whistleblowers, and his termination was stayed. It is unclear...

“Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, upset after a racist letter sent to the show’s studio didn’t get a “bigger reaction,” is suspected of paying two men to attack him a week later, according to multiple sources with direct knowledge of the investigation. “When the letter didn’t get enough attention, he concocted the staged attack,” a source told CBS 2 Investigator Brad Edwards. Other sources corroborated that information.

FULL TITLE: 'I made a big mistake': American ISIS bride who called for terror attacks at Memorial Day parades and has married three jihadi fighters begs the US to let her go back to Alabama An American jihadi bride living in a refugee camp after fleeing ISIS's last stand in Syria is begging the US to allow her to return home. Hoda Muthana, 24, left Hoover, Alabama in 2014, in order to join ISIS in Syria, where she would later call for US Muslims to 'spill all of the blood' by launching terror attacks during Memorial Day events. Alec Baldwin hit back at President Donald Trump’s rage-tweet “Saturday Night Live” attack, asking whether the president’s “ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE” smear constitutes “a threat to my safety and that of my family.” The actor known for portraying Trump on the comedy show raised the question Sunday night. Baldwin’s question followed a Trump tweet blasting “SNL” as “tired” and NBC as “Fake News.” “Very unfair and should be looked into,” Trump wrote. “This is the real Collusion!” He added: “THE RIGGED AND CORRUPT MEDIA IS THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!”

OKAYAMA--A whirlpool of near-naked men massed on a dark temple compound here on Feb. 16 as they sought to become the luckiest man of the year. About 10,000 men in white loincloths, whose bodies were emitting steam in the cold night air after being purified in frigid water, scrambled for wooden sticks believed to bring luck at the Kinryozan Saidaiji temple. After all the lights were turned off around 10 p.m., the chief priest tossed a pair of 20-centimeter-long “shingi” sacred sticks from a window 4 meters above ground into the massive throng. Those who left the temple grounds holding...

I was folding away some laundry the other day when I noticed a hole in my J. Crew sweatshirt. It’s about the size of my pinky nail, but threatens to get bigger, and it’s located in the very inconvenient place of my sweatshirt’s collar band. “I should mend that,” I thought, until I realized I don’t know how to mend anything at all. The idea of mending today feels more like a promise than a reality. Alden Wicker touched on this last month in her Vox article about how the spare button represents all the ways we fail to be...

Sometimes it seems from reading posts on here that the average Freeper thinks that guns are pretty much banned in the UK. They aren't, though. Handguns are banned (unfortunately), but otherwise we have a reasonable choice of legal weaponry, including Accuracy International sniper rifles if you have £23K to spare. Semi-automatic rifles are limited to .22 rimfire, but bolt-action rifles are not. Jussie Smollett appears to have picked the wrong location for his "hate crime" to be caught on video, if we compare his Good Morning America interview to the latest reports about the two Nigerian men who say the actor-singer paid them to stage an assault.************* The most important dot to connect to all of the above, though, comes from Smollett himself, who told Good Morning America (GMA) last week that he suspected a surveillance camera caught the whole incident.Speaking to GMA's Robin Roberts, Smollett said, "And I looked up and I saw there was a camera directly on the light...

To prove that there's a border emergency, President Trump must stop eating omelets! Ridiculous, you might say. And yet, on this morning's New Day, CNN's John Avlon, Alisyn Camerota and Jeff Toobin mocked President Trump for eating an omelet, somehow suggesting it debunks the existence of an emergency. After displaying a photo of Trump at a Mar-a-Lago omelet bar, the trio engaged in this banter: JOHN AVLON: While 'emergency' is not defined in this statute, the dictionary definition of emergency certainly doesn't fit this. And this weekend, he's at Mar-a-Lago at the omelet bar, also not exactly communicating urgency.CAMEROTA: Nothing...

... According to an account of the Banqiao Dam by a Chinese journalist writing under the pseudonym Yi Si, on Aug. 8, as workers stared curiously at the retreating water level of the reservoir, a voice in the dark called out: “The River Dragon has come!” And suddenly the dam ruptured, unleashing 600 billion liters of water and destroying an entire village. By Aug. 17, reports Si, 1.1 million people remained trapped by flooding with 50 to 60 percent of food air-dropped into the area floating in the murky waters. It would take weeks for the waters to drain, revealing...

Ilhan Omar built a vast coalition of East African voters to defeat the incumbent in Minneapolis. The liberal media forgot to mention Ilhan was married to her brother. In an extremely dark op-ed for the Washington Post, the executive assistant for the editorial board lamented about how heartbroken she will be if Jussie Smollett wasn’t actually targeted in a hate crime. Instead of feeling relief that maybe there isn’t as much hate out there as she thought, Nana Efua Mumford wrote about her heartbreak that maybe he wasn’t actually attacked by some evil Trump supporters in an article titled, “I doubted Jussie Smollett. It breaks my heart that I might be right.”
