• Looking for Alternative Domain Registration Resources - NOT (Vanity)

Looking for recommendations for an alternative to for registering my website domain. I've used for many years. Last few years the price was $38 per year. They've added a service fee of $11, which is irritating but not my main beef. I'm pretty convinced their process to choose services and pay is intentionally deceptive. Deselecting items do not trigger a refresh of the total price and when one assumes the appropriate amount is being charged, that is not the case. There was no price reflected during the checkout process and they charged my credit card the full amount,...
• Are Liberal Arts Majors Working

Accuracy in Academia ^ | February 22, 2018 | Malcolm A. Kline
The American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS) is trying to prove that liberal arts majors are gainfully employed but they're not doing so all that clearly. For one thing, they call the report "The State of the Humanities 2018: Graduates in the Workforce and Beyond." What exactly is beyond the workforce other than unemployment and retirement? "While their unemployment rate has declined since the Great Recession, humanities graduates had a level of unemployment in 2015 that was modestly higher than the rate for the bachelor’s-holding population as a whole," the report proclaims. "The 4.3% unemployment rate among terminal bachelor’s...

A man has been rescued from an ice floe speeding down the Petitcodiac River this morning. A rescue operation Thursday morning saw the man pass through the Petitcodiac Causeway gates, under the Gunningsville Bridge and past Chateau Moncton heading towards the Bay of Fundy on a fast current. Reporters at the scene said he looked like he was freezing when he was pulled from the river, and was being treated by paramedics in an ambulance. Earlier, firefighters tried to rescue the man by throwing ropes to him from the shore of the river, but they were unsuccessful.
• Pollak: Teenage Survivors Are Not Immune from Criticism When They Push Gun Control

02/22/2018 5:21:44 AM PST · by ChicagoConservative27 · 36 replies
The newest iteration of the gun control debate concerns whether teenage survivors of last week’s shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, should be immune from criticism when they argue for gun control. This is a relatively new question: other school shootings, like Sandy Hook in 2012, have involved children too young to have opinions. But the answer is no: once you enter the political arena, your views are fair game. Democrats have perfected the art of using sympathetic public figures to argue for positions most Americans reject, then accusing critics of mean-spiritedness when they disagree....

We already know what happened. Seventeen children are dead, and all the talking points will not prevent the next Parkland, Florida. Will our politicians finally act? I doubt it. Because any remedy must include the acceptance that “increased” security equals “less” freedom. It’s a sum zero game. Unless Americans are willing to make that concession, then body bags will continue to fill up schoolyards, shopping malls and concerts. The Broward County Sheriff received 30 calls regarding Nikolas Cruz over the past few years. And, an FBI tip line caller provided information about Mr. Cruz’s gun ownership and desire to kill....

Police have hired a U.S. DNA technology firm to create a sketch of the possible likeness of the mother of a baby found dead in a Calgary dumpster on Christmas Eve, as investigators continue in their efforts to find her. The newborn girl was found in a parking lot near the intersection of Bowness Road and 79th Street N.W. Police believe the baby was alive for some period of time before she died, but it's not yet known whether the infant was already dead when it was placed in the dumpster, Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta of the CPS homicide unit...

Washington Times ^ | Tuesday, February 20, 2018 | Angela Rocco DeCarlo
Opera has it all. Love. Murder. Rape. And most fascinating, in the case of Puccini’s “Tosca” a peek into the rapist’s thinking. In fact, he tells all. In church. Every day headlines tout another soldier in the vast army of rapacious men advancing sexually on some hapless woman. Normal, nice people, cannot help wonder: “What was he thinking?” Well, Giacomo Puccini’s 1900 masterpiece, “Tosca,” lavishly displays such devilish desires. “Tosca” is a passionate love story interfaced with political intrigue. In fact, the plot hinges on villain Baron Scarpia’s botched rape of Floria Tosca, the brave heroine of the story, madly...
• Stormy Daniels hosting webcam show 'fit to topple regimes'

Pornographic actress Stormy Daniels will “bare all” during an online performance Wednesday that her team says is “fit to topple regimes." But the revelations are likely to be skin deep as Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, cashes in on her alleged 2006 affair with President Trump. Her representative, Gina Rodriguez, said last week that at some point, “Stormy is going to tell her story” after Trump lawyer Michael Cohen admitted paying Daniels $130,000 weeks before the election. But Rodriguez, who said Cohen violated a nondisclosure agreement, says Daniels doesn’t plan to broadcast her story on Flirt4Free, a pop-up-plagued...

We’re still not sure if it was a glitch, an “oops” or an intentional snub, but it looks like Easter Sunday has disappeared from Apple’s iPhone calendars under the company's latest software update. Fox News reports some iPhone users have complained that Easter Sunday, which falls on April 1 this year and is the most important holiday in Christianity, has been erased from Apple’s calendar under its latest iOS version 11.2.5.
• Rob Reiner: Trump a ‘Mentally Ill Sociopath,’ Time to ‘End This Sickness’

Rob Reiner escalated his attacks on President Donald Trump on Sunday, taking to social media to demand that GOP “patriots” take a stand to “end” what he called the “sickness” of his presidency. The 70-year-old LBJ filmmaker — a frequent critic of the president who previously launched a committee to explore possible Russian interference in the 2016 presidential race — blasted Trump in a Twitter post in apparent response to a school shooting in Florida this week that left 17 people dead and 15 others injured.

© Channel 4/Plimsoll Productions The Cheddar Man after Kennis & Kennis' reconstruction. On Sunday, Channel 4 will broadcast a documentary unveiling the face of what is believed to be the oldest complete British skeleton to be discovered. The Cheddar Man has warranted such comprehensive coverage because of his surprising complexion. Unlike the white skin and fair hair researchers had expected to belong to the first modern Briton, the man who lived 10,000 years ago and died in his twenties is believed to be black, with dark, curly hair and blue eyes. In his heyday, he was a 5ft 5”...

• How NASA is going to use a lunar outpost to launch us into deep space

NASA is eager for humans to venture beyond the International Space Station, leave boot prints in the red dust of Mars and fly into the vast unknown—but first, the moon. Before the space agency puts astronauts on our natural satellite for the first time since the Apollo missions touched down, it needs a lunar outpost to be its gateway to the future. The Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway is the brainchild of NASA scientists joining forces with ISS and commercial partners to explore the concept of such an outpost floating around the moon. After months of brainstorming, the concept is going to...

The F.B.I. received a tip last month from someone close to Nikolas Cruz that he owned a gun and had talked of committing a school shooting, the bureau revealed Friday, but it acknowledged that it had failed to investigate. The tipster, who called an F.B.I. hotline on Jan. 5, told the bureau that Mr. Cruz had a “desire to kill people, erratic behavior and disturbing social media posts,” the F.B.I. said. The information should have been assessed and forwarded to the Miami F.B.I. field office, the bureau said. But that never happened. On Wednesday, Mr. Cruz, 19, killed 17 students...

BEIJING — A lavish four-hour Lunar New Year show televised to millions across China on Thursday night set off a flood of indignation with its caricatures featuring blackface and African men in animal suits. The gala, televised by China’s state broadcaster, featured a well-known Chinese actress as an African woman with exaggerated buttocks, a large chest and a face painted black. Carrying a platter of fruit on her head, she was accompanied by an African man dressed as a monkey. {snip}The skit was set in Kenya, home to a new Chinese-built railroad between the capital, Nairobi, and the coastal town...
