WASHINGTON, DC – Chairman Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) Senate Judiciary Committee (SJC) sent four more judicial nominees to the Senate floor and plans to pass another four at its next business meeting, advancing President Trump’s persistent march to keep his campaign promise of reshaping the federal judiciary. Senators on Thursday voted to send three federal trial court nominees and one federal appeals court nominee to the full Senate, where they are expected to be approved. In a sign of the Democrats’ possible weakening resolve to uniformly oppose all Trump judicial picks, three of the nominees received some Democratic votes in support....

The California assemblywoman has carved out a recent niche in the Golden State as an advocate against sexual harassment, raising her profile to national status, Politico’s Carla Marinucci reports. However, her national profile might come back to haunt her after a former staffer publicly accused Garcia of groping him in 2014.

It’s baaack! A federal tax break for film, television, and theater productions that expired a little over a year ago has been revived by the budget deal signed into law by President Donald Trump Friday. The tax break, created back in 2004, was originally scheduled to expire after just a few years. Under pressure from Hollywood, however, Congress renewed the tax break time and again. But with the election of President Trump and Republicans in control of both the House and Senate, the break was finally allowed to expire in 2017. Except now it is back in a particularly strange...

CNN’s decision to hire former FBI Director James Comey’s assistant disturbs veteran members of the bureau, former agents told The Daily Caller News Foundation. The relationship between former FBI agent Josh Campbell, the cable news network and Campbell’s seemingly close history with former boss James Comey, have raised a number of questions from these agents over the propriety of Campbell’s new job. “What can [Campbell] contribute? I don’t think that he would be someone who could offer any type of, really, knowledge about what law enforcement analysts are, because, what is his experience?” said former Special Agent Jack Garcia, a...

It’s time for another Olympics, which means it’s once again time for the world’s finest athletes to parade about in a bunch of flag-themed outerwear. My boss thought it would be a good idea to give an overview of what these proud Olympians will be wearing in PyeongChang, even though I shop at places that have “Outlet” and “Maxx” in their names and have worn a tie to work approximately once in my 20 years at The Washington Post. I am, by any measure, deeply unfashionable and thus wholly unsuited for this assignment. But please, read on.
  • Why was Senator Mark Warner using Signal and Disappearing Messages if he had Nothing to Hide?

Mark Warner was texting a Russian oligarch using an encrypted app, Signal, and his messages were set to automatically delete. FoxNews broke a huge story about Senator Mark Warner, which has been discussed elsewhere. What I haven’t seen anyone else cover is the fact that the “text messages” were not ordinary messages. Warner was communicating via Signal, an encrypted app. Moreover, Warner had his messages set to disappear. (The hour glass icon in the text exchange.)

RUSH: The budget deal. It’s a big deal. It’s a two-year budget deal. We talked about this yesterday. And remember, I had an idea. You know, there’s a lot of people wondering about (laughing), “What is going on?” All of this spending, combined with the tax cuts, deficits as far as the eye can see — and it doesn’t seem like it’s very Republican. It doesn’t seem like it’s very conservative. And they indeed they shut down the government for a couple hours and they got it reopen last night when the deal was agreed to. Trump signed it early...
  • Kurdish YPG Asayesh Forces Kidnapped More Aramean Christians In Northeast Syria

The Kurdish YPG/Asayesh forces have begun to intensify their ongoing intimidations and threats towards Christians in Northeast Syria. They are now increasingly kidnapping and conscripting teenagers with the intention to send them to the frontline in places like Afrin. Local Christian sources, fearing for their lives and speaking on condition of anonymity to the World Council of Arameans (Syriacs) (“WCA”), report that they are facing more and more harassments from the Kurdish YPG and Asayesh (security forces). On Friday, 19 January, the first grave human rights violations of the new year included the abduction of seven Christians; four Armenians and...

"Devin Nunes is investigating me. Here's the truth," is the Washington Post headline. It's meant to carry the insouciant house style of viral social media. But it's the paper most closely linked to the effort to overturn the 2016 election (democracy dies in darkness) giving a key suspect a forum to defend himself. And no amount of bravado can change that. The man being investigated in Jonathan Winer, formerly of the State Department, who has Clinton ties. And his piece is an attempt to spin his role in acting as one interface between Clintonworld and the Steele dossier.
  • Boston columnist suspended after Tom Brady agent hoax

Sometimes a source is just too good to be true. Boston Herald columnist Ron Borges landed what he thought was a major scoop Thursday night: Tom Brady’s agent texted him to say the Patriots quarterback wanted a new contract in light of former backup Jimmy Garoppolo’s megadeal with the 49ers,and the five-time Super Bowl champion was willing to sit out offseason team activities until he got it. Borges wrote a story, which the Herald published. Apparently the source was not Brady’s agent, but a random fan pretending to be Don Yee,
